I feel inclined to send an email to the SPO asking what their status is, but if they're as busy as they ought to be right now, I don't want to bother them. If anybody (somebody more anxious than me) feels audacious enough to contact them, please share your findings.

I wonder if we should expect the "SMART Program Office" to show up again this year. Last year they posted on April 1st:

Award letters are going out today. Yes we recongize the irony in sending these out on April Fools day but that's the way it goes. We had a lot of work to do. Yes, everyone not recieving an award will also recieve notification regarding thier status.

In addition to wondering how you know, I also want to know what you mean by "letters." Are emails being sent out? Or only hard-copy packets?

FYI, we just received a call at our home from someone at the Navy who said they were part of the SMART program. My daughter then called after they spoke to her...mostly due diligence regarding the BS/MS program she intends to pursue. However, he said that it would be another week or two until final decisions are made.

If they push back that far the acceptance and second round notifications will be put back as well. That would really be horrible.

My POC notified me this morning that all budget issues were set forward and that official notifications will go out today or tomorrow via email. Thats what I was told and thats why I posted what I did earlier. I just havent taken the time to register on these forums. Im anxiously waiting with the rest of ya'll as well.

Well... I did the dirty dead and e-mailed smart. When(if) I get a response before notification come out I will post the reply. Sounds fishy that one location would give differnt info than another but that is the way the government works! All is not lost on today yet... at 5pm I will call it a close!

If I understand correctly, it will be ASEE sending out the notifications today and not the individual branches. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.

Any chance you're referring to the SMART Grant Program?

It is hard to do anything when waiting to hear something exspecially on the day. If it is going to be another two weeks I hope they say something so I can get back to life until then.

Is the NAVY involved in the SMART Grant? Isn't that closed?

I just spoke with the Smart Scholarship office. You can find the number under the contact us tab on their website. (2023313544) The young lady said that they will be sending out the announcements "in the next several days." I asked if she could give me a specific day. She said "No, we are waiting on the Department of Defense." So . . . that seems to indicate that it could easily be next week sometime and probably will be next week sometime. She definitely did not seem to be able to give a definite date since the "OK" seems to be in the hands of someone else.

If this is regarding the SMART Scholarship, then it is likely that she was someone on the second cut list. Decisions have already been made.
