I was contacted today by my first choice, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA). They called me randomly, and she even apologized for not giving us a heads up before calling. She was very friendly and asked me a few questions about why I want to work for the NGA. In talking to her, it sounded like at least from the NGA's perspective, they haven't picked many people in years past so this was a good year to apply with them. She said in her department they were looking at about 35 applications and were calling a "handful of the strongest applicants."

So just wanted to let people know that there's still hope even though I think the sponsoring nominations are due either tomorrow or Saturday!

If you don't mind me asking, what's your major and degree level? NGA was also one of my top picks, and I was hoping to hear from them, as I haven't been contacted yet.

Unfortunately, I received no calls. I applied to NGA as stated, ERDC-TEC, and ERDC-GRED.

I read on some other message boards that the NSF GRFP and NDSEG scholarship awards won’t be announced until late April or even later because of Congress’s inability to pass a budget for 2011/2012. If that is true (no idea if it is true), it probably means the SMART awards won’t be announced until the same time frame.

Yesterday, I asked the ASEE SMART Team how congressional budget uncertainties might affect award timelines. Though not very specific, here is the response:

"Thank you for your inquiry. At this time, awards are scheduled to go around the 31st/ the first week of April. Should this date change, we will update our events calendar at https://smart.asee.org/about/events.

going from that email, there is a good chance we could hear tomorrow. since they updated the website to not include the phone interviews last week, and they didn't change the date, I would assume that there is a chance of hearing tomorrow. Hopefully it atleast comes this week.

Yes! Definitely tell us as soon as anyone gets a letter of hears information about a postponement. I'm dieing to know. However, please start a new thread if you get an official announcement. This thread is more focused on the topic of phone interviews with DoD labs.

I received my semi finalist e-mail around noon so maybe… just maybe… we will see something around the same time.

Just checked the SMART website, I believe that they have changed the notification date to March 31, from March 30.....So at least that means we stand a good chance of hearing tomorrow. The anticipation is killing me.

I agree. I think they just changed it because everyone was freaking out about not hearing back because I'm pretty sure it said today all day until just an hour ago.

I had nightmares last night. I don't know why I'm stressing so much. It's just a scholarship! That I want. Really badly.

The website has conflicting information. The application timeline claims award notifications will go out on the 31st. The events calendar says it will happen on the 30th (today).
