Hi everybody I'm a new recipient for the SMART scholarship and I have been working on planning out my finances over the course of the next few years for my family.

My question is specifically is, as the title states, regarding the annual miscellaneous allowance rate stated in the service agreement. Are these funds automatically awarded or do we need to fill out a request specifying which educational materials are needed to purchase. Additionally how is the health insurance allowance rate applied.

The handbook does not specify how the annual miscellaneous allowance rate or the health insurance allowance rate are awarded, it simply mentions that they will be prorated based on your graduation date.

It is automatically deposited with your August stipend.

You get it yearly at the rate that is listed on your service agreement. It is pro-rated for years that you are not in the program the entire year (like if you graduate in December)
