Hello,
I was told by my internship company that I would be able to work during the winter break if I were ok.
Is it ok to work full-time during the winter break during the phase 1?
Does anyone have experience about it?
Thanks!
Winter Break Internship during the Phase1
Re: Winter Break Internship during the Phase1
Hm... That sounds strange to be honest. They can't force you to, but if you want to, go for it. I don't know if SMART will give you an ISP though. Doubtful considering most winter breaks are shorter than what an internship is supposed to be for SMART. This is if the winter break think is through your SF.intern wrote:Hello,

If the offer to work over winter break is from something not part of SMART (such as in the private sector), you can take it if you don't work more than a certain number of hours a week. Its in the handbook. I believe it has to be 16 hours or less a week? Double check. Also, your best bet is to contact SMART or your service liaison about this so they know what's going on and they can give you an answer.

Thank you for your reply.
I am working for a private company, because I am currently in phase 0.
Yes, the handbook says so. However, I was told that I can receive the stipend and work full-time until my classes start in September. So I was curious how it goes with the winter break. I will check with the SMART. Thanks.

Since it is a private company and you will be in phase 1 during winter break, you cannot work full time. I think it is limited to something around 16 hours per week. Just check with your liaison, etc. They may get you special permission.intern wrote:Thank you for your reply.
