So i was reading the service requirement (out of boredom) from 2008, and i read this clause:
Participant agrees to provide the DoD with one calendar year (12 months) of post-graduate
employment service for each academic year (generally 9 months) Participant received
funding under SMART;

Does that imply 2 years of service after graduation or am I reading this wrong?

If they paid for 2 years of you going to school, then yes as far as I understand it.

It indicated on the application how long your service requirement would be. I had my graduation date as May 2012, and it said my post-graduation commitment would be 2 years.

Hah, well must have mixed up service requirements or assumed it to be the same length as the DHS scholarship I also applied too. Oh well...
