Is it ok to contact the facility you are interested in? Is there a procedure or chain you should follow to do so?

Yeah, I did it and got a lecture via e-mail. The guy was not happy.

I emailed and called the my sf and got it this year! the POC at my sf also said that she is glad that I call. It is depending on how you present yourself to the facility that you are interested in.

I think that most facilities don't want 300 applicants contacting them.

i think that it depends on the facility. begin by looking at the facility's website for student employment. if they provide contact information, then use it. you can also look at their job openings to see if they are looking for somebody in your field.

So I take it not only is it ok but in some cases it might help while in others someone might be having a bad day and let you know.

If an sf provided contact information on their website, it is probably OK to contact them a little bit after the first round of cuts.
