First Time Applying???

Hi! I'm currently a sophomore pursuing my bachelors in Plastics Engineering, this is my first time applying for the SMART scholarship I was wondering if anyone who has already been awarded the scholarship had any advice on how to make your application better? I haven't had an opportunity to do much research since I have to work to pay my tuition so I feel like my application is kind of lame. Any help you can offer will be really appreciated!
