Transcript and Supporting Documents' Deadline

Post by jlit »

I know that we have to complete and send in the SF-86 which I have done and our fall transcripts by specific times. I had my fall transcripts sent in before the first application deadline ended so I have not bothered to do anything about them yet. I was just wondering if Smart uses a type of ticker list and wont count my fall transcripts because I sent them in before Smart asked for them. Or will they just use they copy I have sent already.

I did the same thing. I emailed them and they said that they received my fall transcripts. I don't know if that is because the transcripts got there after they actually asked or for some other reason. I suggest you email them and say that you are concerned if they got the transcript or not.

Jlit and blackbishop,
Not sure if this answers your question or not but transcripts and all other required documents (e.g. reference letters, test scores, etc.) must have been received, not just requested or sent, by ASEE by the stated deadline. Acceptance of anything received after that date is at the discretion of the SMART Program Office. If you are concerned, DON’T contact the SMART Program Office directly; contact ASEE. They will contact us if need be. We in the SMART Program Office have no idea what has, or has not, been submitted and by when – we have hired ASEE to keep track of this stuff for us. Thank you.

SMARTguide I understand this. What I mean is that asee received my Fall transcripts before they were requested. I know this by looking at the overall status section of my application. I am a freshman so my college transcripts was waived to begin with. I sent them after the semester ended hoping that my performance in college (4.0 gpa) weighs out my lack of performance (3.1 gpa) in high school.

Jlit,
If your application listed them as received, then it’s almost certain we got them. If there is a mistake, or didn’t get them in time, then there is really nothing that can be done at this point; the application files have already been finalized and are in the process of being prepared for the panel. We don’t expect Freshman applicants to have any fall transcripts and our review process accounts for this. The first week in February, we request all Freshman applicants ranked high by the panel, submit their fall transcripts. If ASEE already has yours then it’s one less thing to worry about. If you are still concerned about it, please contact ASEE as they are in the best position to discuss processing of transcripts. Thank you.

I had my fall transcript sent in by my school at least a week ago but ASEE still has not received it. I am not sure if it actually hasn't gotten there or if they are just swamped with transcripts and security documents. Has anyone else gotten their fall transcript acknowledged by ASEE?

Log into your application and go to overall status. Previously, your school transcripts probably just said received, but now they say received or fall transcript received.

Right, and my application says fall transcript not received. I'm just wondering if ASEE is just behind or something.

Hmm. I'm not sure. I sent mine in with my application so I wouldn't know how long it takes them to post it as received. I know that my SF86 was sent on a Saturday and I got a confirmation on Wednesday so it took them less than a week. The fact that it has been almost a week since the transcript deadline would make me a little nervous if I haven't heard from, but then again the SF86 and transcripts were sent to different addresses and maybe one is more behind than the other.

hey i had my transcripts sent the week of the 4th, and i was under the impression that mine were received until i logged into my account yesterday and it says not received....i hope there is just a delay in updating the statuses online.

I sent mine in on the 23 of December and got an email that they received it on the 11 of January. So that was like two and a half weeks turn around time. I would email and ask if you are concerned. Its better to be annoying and have everything in than to assume everything is alright and be disqualified because your transcript was never recieved.

Hi,

I just wanted to share with you guys that they do notify you whether or not your fall transcript was received. If you log into their site (where you completed you application), and look under "overall status" and then down by transcripts...it should say "fall transcript received".

Take note, this is different than the original deadline notice where everything just said "received". I think they change this to "fall transcript received", once they get your new transcript. I don't know what it will say otherwise.
