Hello!

I am an undergraduate student and am interested in applying for the SMART scholarship to get an MS in Computer Science or Information Technology. I am not studying in a STEM field for my undergraduate degree so I was wondering if I would still be able to qualify. I'm not sure if this helps, but I have taken a few STEM courses related to CS and currently work as an IT assistant.

Yes, you should be able to qualify. As long as the degree you are planning to pursue under the SMART program is on this list (http://smart.asee.org/about), you should be eligible. You will also need to meet the rest of the eligibility requirements (citizenship, GPA, etc) too.

That being said (and I am not on the review committee, so take this with reservations), having a background unrelated to your pursuant degree may affect your chances of making the final cut. SMART is a very competitive STEM-based program, so be sure to emphasize how well you're doing in your STEM courses and how good you are at your IT job.
