I wonder if anyone has tried to contact them. I am thinking about sending an email but I worry if they are getting lots of them at this point. Wouldn't want to keep them busy responding to emails. Just want them to send the important one!

I figure they probably know that they haven't sent out awards, so I'm not sure what sending them an email will do. They'll send em out whenever they send em out, I hope.

Yes, they should know they haven't sent them but maybe they know when they will send them.

Based on an email response someone posted earlier, yes, we will be notified in both cases. I would imagine we would also be told if we are alternates or not, as I know that has happened in previous years. Bottom line: you will hear "yes", "no" or "maybe".

No, actually I heard some facilities don't even do interviews, you'll just have to wait for the email

No, I talked to a friend who is a year older than me and he is a SMART recipient. He said that he knew people who got interviews but didn't get the scholarship and he knew people who didn't get interviewed but got it. An interview is really just if someone wants to know more.

It'll be interesting. I'd been worried because I'd never got an interview call, but now I know so many are in the same boat, I'm just going to wait out the next few days.

For those also waiting to hear back from the NDSEG (the other DOD fellowship program), I just got this email in response to one requesting clarification of the notification deadlines:

"Dear *******,

The NDSEG Program Office expects award notifications to be issued via e-mail by April 15. All applicants will be notified via e-mail regarding the status of their application once that information becomes available.

Please be advised.

I guess that would mean we could expect NDSEG notifications on Friday possibly, since the 15th is next Sunday.
