I received an acceptance email. I suspect rejections won't happen until they know how many agree to the SMART terms. Does anyone know if they put borderline applicants on a wait list?

So, does anyone else have a letter? Or are they still sending them out

Are the terms still the same? Like, if you've already accepted an award you can't accept SMART?

I just got the email, its text matches that which was just posted. I received the scholarship.

While I'm elated and grateful, honestly I'm also a little sad after all this. I wish we could all have gotten it - I think we deserved it. Thanks everyone for being a great support system in this long, long wait.

I heard from a friend who applied a couple years ago (would have been the 2010 cohort) that he received an email stating he was on a waitlist.

I received an award for some of my undergrad and I believe I was a second rounder, based on when one of my fellow students was accepted and when I was accepted. There was no intermediate email then, I thought I was just rejected because my friend got an acceptance and I didnt. It was about a month and a half later that I got the offer...i had already written it off actually (thankfully I was still able to accept). that was all back in 08 though.

Nope, new terms:

7.6. Outside Funding
Instruction. During phase 1, participants may accept funding from sources outside of SMART, including private scholarships, fellowships, grants, and private or federal student loans with the following limitations:
a. Participants do not accept funding that interferes with the internship and/or service commitment requirements;
b. Participants do not accept funding that may adversely affect eligibility to obtain and maintain the security clearance required by the SF;
c. Participants do not accept funding that may create a conflict of interest with the SF;
d. Participants do not accept funding from federal scholarships, fellowships, grants (including the Federal Pell Grant) or other federal funding sources other than SMART with the exception of salary supplements provided by SFs and Veteran’s Affairs programs (ex: Montgomery GI Bill, Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act, the Survivors’ and Dependants’ Educational Assistance Program);
e. There is no monetary limit on the amount of outside funding a participant may accept; and
f. Receipt of outside funding does not reduce or eliminate the service commitment.

Im so disappointed they didn't send the good and bad emails at the same time. SMART has really played with us this year. No one should have to learn that they didn't get an award by checking this forum. I'm sure it's not what you want to hear but I got an award email at 11:00 this morning. Maybe more are still being sent. I wish everyone the best and feel terrible if it's truly me that's telling you that the results are in. Congrats to anyone who received an award. We all deserve to be free of the stress, one way or another.

Maybe they are waiting to see who accepts the award before they send out rejection letters...but they should at least send out waitlist e-mails.

Bluffy McBlufferson with a "buddy" here... You still happy you excluded my "predictions"?

Seriously, I hope you have a chance to accept the scholarship. But I also wanted to call you out a little ;).

Has anyone received a rejection or waitlist notification yet?

Also, for those of you who have received the award: What facility, field, and position were you hired for?

So can people who have been accepted please post initials as has been asked before? It'd be extremely helpful for my emotional and mental stability. Also degrees, how many years of funding you applied for, level (undergrad, masters or phd) that you applied at. Please and thank you.
