Re: Sponsoring Facilities
Previous years have highly suggested picking facilities. I was only interviewed by my first choice. A lot of people only heard from people who they selected. It also allows you to personalize a section about each of the 3 SFs. Other people may have had a different experience but for my SF I think it...

Re: Phase 2 Start
I'm making up some day numbers here it's in the handbook somewhere though. Your SF has 30 days from when your degree is complete (it's officially on your transcript) to get out an unofficial offer. You have a week from when they send that to sign it. Following that they have something like another 3...

Re: Reference Letter Uploads
Two years ago I received an email when uploaded and I believe they appeared on the application. Similar to how the GRE scores were uploaded. I gave a deadline of a week before they were due and ended up having someone not write one because they ran out of time/forgot even with my email reminders. an...

Re: Internship housing
People at my base all reserved ahead of time by a good amount. The earlier people (febuary/March) did Airbnb and later people did subleases near schools in the local area. Some stayed with eachother but most didn't. The people that stayed together had some sort of relationship before they got here. ...

Placement Date Phase 2
Just wanted to share this tidbit, so SF's have 120 days after degree conferral (generally 30-45 days after graduation) to outplace you into a job. So basically you could graduate in May and not be working until October. It probably won't be quite as long, but personally I'm planning for it.

I am also within the 50 miles (and got the form back), I didn't get any additional support - nor am I expecting to. I think something got mixed up on yours.HOrobOD wrote:Yes I received the request form back and it says I am not eligible for an ISP because the distance they reported is 17 miles.

Re: Congratulations Email
I have continually been getting information throughout this week from the SF that contacted me, and have set up a site visit, as well as gotten security clearance from their base, but have still not been contacted by LMI. Should I be worried that there is a misunderstanding? I am not sure as to why...

Re: Anual Report -- Why was outside funding accepted?
I mean I would just say because it was offered with admissions? Or something super simple. I think explaining it is more important if it's a research grant or something.WhatIsThis wrote:So, if I've received a scholarship from my school that's been active since freshman year, how do I explain why I accepted it?

I can't link it - it's tied to your log in. Go to the current scholars area and click SMART program documents. It'll be in there.

Re: Site Visit
So the awardee dashboard states that we must attend the site visit by 7/15. I just want to confirm that this is true, or do some SF's schedule their site visits after this date? Thanks! I would 100% assume that's true. Your SF runs off of SMARTs schedule and so do you. Especially since your first p...

Re: Congratulations Email
I received an email today from someone that I interviewed with congratulating me on receiving the scholarship and welcoming me to the team. The person also is trying to set up a time that I can come tour the facility. I was ecstatic to hear this, but I originally heard from SMART that I didn't rece...

Re: Site Visit
I would buy your ticket as soon as you can afford to buy it/have a date set in stone and not rely on the SMART payment. Some people weren't paid until after they traveled. I wasn't paid until about two weeks before. It depends on how on top of it SMART is. I didn't book my hotel until after SMART se...

Re: SMART Award Deadline Extension?
It doesn't reflect poorly on anything other than possibly the SMART scholarship itself. Which if you drop out I assume you're never applying for it again so that shouldn't matter. There is a form after your site visit which you fill out and can drop out no questions asked. As far as I know you don't...

Re: Site Visit
1) Don't be worried about your dates, worst case they'll email you and say "Why is it blank?" and you'll respond and tell them that your SF hasn't picked them yet. We had visit request forms last year in my to get the travel stipend. 2) It depends on the SF and number of scholars for days. My visit ...

Thanks for all kind replies. All really helped me. I am just not sure why my SF does not know when exactly I can start. Re: Start Date after graduation
This is incorrect. My SF dragged big time on this. I didn't start working until 6 months after graduating. I tried to contact them repeatedly to begin the hiring process but they didn't start it until 4-5 months after graduating. Honestly it probably depends on the SF, but don't get your hopes up o...

Technically it should be the week with the 3rd friday. Which is the 20th. If you've been getting it tuesday for this month that would be the 17th.
