Re: Leave during Phase 2 and not tell SMART?
So I guess if you have a problem with SMART, you better take it to court. Don't you dare mention it here. Ehhh... no, as you can see by the million complaints that have been left up. If you are planning on doing a potentially illegal dumb, don't post it here, especially from a work computer... Also...

Has pay back started for anyone?
So I want to centralize this discussion, has anyone heard anything about paying the government back? For anyone who has quit part way through phase II, have you had any taxes taken as repayment? I know it was previously stated that the service secretaries have to submit our stuff to DFAS, and that m...

Re: Does anyone have the 2011 Withdrawl Request
RPI CSE, I found a hardcopy of the form from 2011. I will scan it in today or tomorrow and send it your way. If possible, could you send to me too? I tried to PM RPI CSE for it but for some reason my PM will not leave the Outbox. I still haven't received any PMs with a copy, if someone does have it...

Does anyone have the 2011 Withdrawl Request
So I am going through all of my documentation and I can't find my Withdraw from Program Request form from 2011. If anyone has a copy and would be able to send it to me, that would be wonderful. I need the 2011 version because it mentions the fact that our pay back is prorated. If anyone can help, or...

Re: Security Clearance Issue: Interim Clearance
Quick advice as my laptop is dying. Plan for both scenarios. Talk to smart about getting summer tuition assistance because you might need it, figure out what you will need to do if you go to school over the summer. Do research if you can, if not, take courses that interest you but you couldn't take ...

Re: Biosciences?
I was contemplating on applying this next round for a SMART scholarship through the DOD. I was wondering if I could only do this for a year, as I usually do summer research for other schools (A&M, Lamar University, etc.) So no real comments on your chances, you really need to apply to find out. But...

Re: A few questions about the SMART application
I emailed the program with the question about the degree program. They said that, since I won't be accepted into the program until after I apply, that I have to apply with the Bachelor's program on my application and then apply for an extension later. I think someone gave you incorrect information,...

Re: Transferring universities after acceptance?
I changed graduation date and university. The two factors here aare SF hiring date and money. If you contact your SF in advance, and they're okay with it, and you don't cost SMART more money, they'll approve it, If the SF isn't okay with it, tough luck. If you ask for more money than before, you MA...

Re: Transferring universities after acceptance?
This would be something that you would need to work out with your SF when you get in. The SF is the customer, and as long as they didn't pick you solely base on your choice of school, you should be fine!

I would not believe kael106 just yet. The SPO always sends these awards out in large batches. The odds of him being the only one to hear anything today are virtually zero. Don't get discouraged if you didn't hear anything today, honestly I don't think anyone did. There would be significantly more po...

Re: 2012 Applicants
If you are talking about the original email regarding the revocation of the ISP, then you may be incorrect. From what I have read on the recipients side, the cap was lifted at the same time ISP was no longer provided. In a later email, they stated that they redacted the previous email regarding the...

Re: Getting SF to help with Internship Funding
Hi, Has anyone gotten their SF to help with internship funding? Would be very helpful to know. Hi Guest, I was informed by my facility that the are working on a way to fund their scholars. The current issues (may be different base to base) are that they may not have the funding and that as interns,...

Sorry for the possibly silly question. But can someone lay out what exactly has gotten/is getting cut? I.e the 25k/year stipend? Thank you! Hello anotherGiuest, The 25k/year stipend is the same and fine. The cut was the 1200/week internship support payment. It is being reduced to 600/week and given...

just because the money was allocated, doesn't mean that it cannot be cut. it is happening to all federal budgets, including DoD. there are budget drills all of the time where the question is asked "if we cut your budget another x%, what will not get done?" sometimes the pentagon doesn't even ask, t...

I am one of the current scholars that still thinks SMART is a great deal. I do not have children to support and my wife makes a good living as well - I will hardly notice the missing 7k this year and will be done with phase 1 or whatever (graduate next year) before the support payments completely e...

Re: 2012 Applicants
That's actually not how it works at all. It is stated and emphasized all over the place that some facilities request interviews while others do not, and that when reviewing recommended candidates, SMART has no record of whether or not these candidates received interviews with the facilities or not....
