Re: Foreign Travel

Just to follow up...

I submitted the form to the CA and they forwarded it to the security manager. The request was approved in 2 weeks -- no problems.

Foreign Travel

Hey,

Has anyone submitted a foreign travel request form? Was there any trouble with having your travel approved?

Thanks

Mine has not yet been paid. But my school just sent the bill last week. I'll let you know when it gets paid.

Re: Transferring universities after acceptance?

As long as your graduation date is not going to change, SMART is pretty accommodating.

Re: 2012 Applicants

Last year they sent notifications on april fools day. This year I wouldn't be suprised if they announce the winners on friday the 13th.

I think someone in SMART has a dark sence of humor.

Last year they sent the acceptance email at 5 (PDT) on friday. So it could be late today!

Re: UNBELIEVABLE

Dude! Judging by your breathtaking way with words, I'm really surprised you managed a 2.7 GPA. As "stoked" as you may be, a 2.7 looks the same on a resume whether you went to MIT or ITT- you're a C student, DUDE. That's just real life. A friendly piece of advice- you probably don't want to go aroun...

Re: Internship Support Payments

So if half of us are within 50 miles then why do all of us get 600 instead of half of us getting our 1200 this year? Yeah, that makes no sense at all. Benefiting half of us and screwing the other half... unless they are trying to turn us against each other! Oh that's evil.... Okay, probably less th...

Re: Internship Support Payments

Keep in mind that this change to the internship support payments does not hurt everyone. If someone lives within 50 miles of their SF then they were not going to get the $1200/mo. in the first place. So for some (EDIT: probably less than half of us) the change in support payments will be an improvem...

Re: Internship Support Payments

They only verbally promised Internship support payments at orientation. I'm not sure if it's in writing anywhere (maybe in the handbook).

I think only the stipend and tuition are guaranteed.

Re: 2012 Applicants

Hey everyone! Not to rain on your parade, but read the first few threads on the Recipient side of the forum. SMART has reduced some of their funding. I have already revived the scholarship and I am still happy I have, regardless of some of the problems with SMART; however, these recent problems may ...

This is an email from SMART I got on Tuesday (feb 21):

Re: Cash Rate

I think that during the internship you do not get the stipend. During the internship you only get paid by your SF and you get Internship Support Payments if you qualify (academic residence > 50 miles from SF).

Per year and also pro rated for 9 months. So you get $2083.33 / month for 9 months.

Re: Tuition Payment

I had trouble getting my tuition payed, but I found it was my school's fault, not asee's. Asee paid almost immediately after receiving a bill.

BTW, I wouldn't pay my tuition up from with my own money, if I were you.

Re: Reference Suggestions??

Well, yes. I did have a little bit of professional experience.

I applied as a sophomore, though. My suggestion is to join some clubs at your school. Talk about your clubs and projects you have done in class. Almost anything can be made into professional experience.
