Re: Retention Candidates?
I was a retention candidate as well. My supervisor wrote a letter of approval for me and asked to keep me on board. Never received an interview and got a rejection letter today too.

Re: Follow on award summer internship
Smart16navy I would suggest you go ahead and register for your classes. You can always drop your classes without penalization before the semester starts. That way if you do get extended and are expected to intern this summer, your coursework is still locked in without possibly having to fight for a ...

Re: Any other current DOD employee also a semi-finalist?
I think the response you received is based on the fact that you are interning. Looking at the 2017 handbook it states During phase 1, recruitment SSPPs may accept employment outside of SMART that does not exceed 16 hours per week. However, the outside employment cannot be through a federal agency or...

Re: Grad semi-finalisit, not enrolled in program yet
So I applied to this scholarship last year, during my senior year in undergrad. As long as you get into a program, SMART does not care where you go. I even brought up the schools I was admitted into during my interview, and they told me to choose whichever, it did not matter to them. Good luck! Do ...

So it seems that is what you were referring to as to why you have to relinquish your position. If you are full-time...

Re: Any other current DOD employee also a semi-finalist?
I am currently in this boat, and from what I understand, we have to relinquish our position as of July 31st of this year (if awarded). I emailed the SMART committee and this is what they told me. I decided to post in case anyone else is in a similar situation. So is this in the case that our curren...

Grad semi-finalisit, not enrolled in program yet
So I've been following this forum for a minute and I don't think I've seen a question like the one I'm about to ask. As a graduate student, we aren't required to be enrolled in an institution before we apply for the scholarship, we just list our one school choice. The school I listed I applied to, b...
