Even though there may be a lot of facilities that take in mechanical engineers, the number positions they have available can vary a lot. Pretty sure it means that those of us with accounts that replied in the thread literally have moderator privileges now. For example, I noticed that I had them, so I cleaned up the General Questions section this morning.

I'm a mechanical engineer, and much like you, I applied to SMART my first year in college, made it to the semifinalist round, then didn't receive an award. I think part of the reason why was because I had two of my letters of recommendation from high school teachers since I didn't know any professor...
