Re: Negotiating Salary
From what I was told, when you are finished with your degree its between you and the OPM to negotiate salary. I wouldn't expect any negotiation to take place, as they probably know you are on contract.

Re: Internship Support Payments
So they split the payments up over 3 months. For example my internship was 10 weeks, which is $10,000. One month before the start of the internship I received 2083 + 10,000/3. The gives you extra money to get to your location.

Re: Extending BS to MS
I changed my degree type, sent in a request to SMART who then passed that to my SF. SMART told me the SF is the one who approves the request. If you have approval of your SF POC then you should be ok.

Re: Extending BS to MS
This question needs to be asked to your SF, as they are the ones who approves degree type and length changes. When I was in a similar situation, the SF told me an extra year for a MS was not an issue and they would approve it. Best of luck!

You guys should try airbnb, you can save a bunch of money that way. I'm out in LA, near beach, all bills included, fully furnished for 2.3k a month. Every area I checked airbnb was cheaper. I am looking in LA - by campus not beach I'm going to be paying around 1.2K Furnished. I'm sharing the kitche...

I contacted my SF last week, I was told SMART has started the process with them, and to expect paperwork within a week or two.

Re: Tattoos?
From orientation at the SF, we were told to dress and act professionally. It was all basic information, what to wear, how to act, whats forbidden. As long as the tattoo is in a discreet location and you can keep it covered up, I don't see it being an issue.

How did you reject your federal financial aid? I called my school and was told I have to hand deliver them a letter stating that I wish to reject my financial aid.

AFTER YOU RECEIVE AN AWARD Stipend Direct Deposit from ASEE every third Friday of the month. However, you may not receive the full amount depending on the length of your award. For instance, I was selected in April, orientation was June, and payments started in August at 25,000/12 months = $2083.33...

When I spoke to my SF POC, I was told it should be business formal and should at least wear a jacket. We are doing first impressions here, so you want to dress nice.

Re: Computer Science Salary
Thats a hard question to answer, I would check out the BLS for information about salary. Computer science is one of the weird fields where some people don't even have degrees going into the field. My guess it would be higher than 50k.

"Please note an approved award adjustment will be reflected in your award documentation and you will need to submit the most updated version of your award documents."
Wait until it is accepted before you start filling out the mountain of paperwork.

From the other thread, some users are still reporting invalid password error. This all could be meaningless errors, or they roll out in waves. what do you mean they roll out in waves? which is good/bad? So the idea circulating is that the green message about the portal being closed is a good sign, ...
