It would help if you mentioned where you were assigned to.

For example,
I'm assigned to NAWCWD-China Lake.
I emailed my POC on Monday April 5. Got an automated response saying that they will be out of town.
My POC called me that Friday.

My POC was very enthusiastic.
We mostly talked about local weather, stuff to do around the area, housing, etc.
I asked my POC about course work related to what I might be doing.
The POC didn't know/ wasn't in charge of technical projects.
From the looks of it, my POC was someone from HR.
I was given the phone number of a technical director.
I didn't bother to follow up however.

Only that they gave me the wrong pocket. Spent two days figuring out who I was supposed to get in contact with.
