You're responsible for taxes on all income regardless of receipt of a 1099. Discharge of debts would be income that could show up on the 1099, but until they tell you this, I wouldn't think you would have to claim it.

May it was just a generic email sent to everyone...more important for those receiving stipends.

I got an email saying my tax documents would be under "my documents" in the smart dashboard, but i don't see them there.
I've left SMART but they haven't asked me for a repayment yet and I don't really want to rattle any cages by reminding them of my presence.
If they never sent me my 1099, am I responsible for it?
Is it located in a different place on the dashboard?
