There’s a way to take a leave of absence. I’m not sure if it would extend your service commitment though. I’m sure a pandemic would probably be a rather convincing argument on why the leave of absence is needed. Pretty sure you don’t get paid during a leave of absence though.

Depending on your school/department/program be sure that course sequence isn’t messed up if you miss a fall semester. Where I did undergrad was tiny and sometimes classes were only fall/spring and sometimes only odd or even years.

In light of the possibility of classes being partly or fully online for the fall semester - am I the only one considering taking a gap semester?
So much about doing this style of work for a full semester, with an engineering workload, would absolutely suck.

Any info about the possibility of taking time off school with SMART?
