Do you mean (1) that you traveled to get to your internship OR (2) that as part of your internship you had to travel? If you meant (2), what about (1)? I know I qualify for internship support payments, but it hasn't been made clear to me if I will be paid to travel to my internship which is almost on the other side of the country and was pretty costly when I did my site visit.

In the future, your SF should try to use MIPR to send SMART the money, which they then can disburse to you.

I traveled for my internship last year, my sponsoring facility wanted to fund it, and tried several ways, but ultimately they determined it was not going to be possible. Hopefully your facility figures it out, I wish you luck.

I believe SMART is associated directly with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. It is administered by the ASEE, which is not a DoD agency. However, when SMART sponsors background checks the clearances are held directly by the Office of the Sectrary of Defense, as opposed to a specific agency/branch, like they would be for a facility sponsored clearance.
