My SF is willing to provide funding, but is having a hard time finding a way to allocate me the funds because I'm not a contractor or employee. We've asked SMART but have gotten no response. Currently I'm registering on DTS and we think that if we find the UIC for the SMART Program that they can allocate me the funds. Does anyone know what it is/travelled for internship work?
I traveled for my internship last year, my sponsoring facility wanted to fund it, and tried several ways, but ultimately they determined it was not going to be possible. Hopefully your facility figures it out, I wish you luck.

I believe SMART is associated directly with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. It is administered by the ASEE, which is not a DoD agency. However, when SMART sponsors background checks the clearances are held directly by the Office of the Sectrary of Defense, as opposed to a specific agency/branch, like they would be for a facility sponsored clearance.
