I am current freshman at the University of Cincinnati trying to apply for the SMART program. As part of the Mechanical Engineering program at UC, I am required to find co-op/internship positions for 5 semesters over the course of my academic career. The timing of these co-op semesters are crucial and are not flexible. However, not many of these co-op semesters are conducted during the summer, as is needed by SMART program internships. Are the SMART internships only available during the summer semester or would it be possible to conduct them during different times of the year? If not, are there any other opportunities outside the scholarship program to work with the DoD that allow me to follow my required co-op schedule?
Thanks
