Hello there helpful people of the SMART forum. I have just applied and had a question about how the extra pay for some students participating in the summer internship works. I understand there is a stipend of around $1200/week for students that are considered to be long distance (50 miles or more), but how does ASEE determine who qualifies for that extra bonus?
Brief rant: it seems silly to have such a black and white rule for the stipend. I live near my hopeful Sponsoring Facility and attend a satellite campus of a school that is also near my hopeful SF, but the main campus is over 50 miles away (I will likely have to take a class there to complete my degree). Has anyone managed to obtain the extra funding even with odd circumstances such as this? Or any other information on the internship or stipend would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
