If you are having trouble finding them, then we likely don't have many...

I would approach this challenge by using Web of Science, or Google Scholar to find researchers who work at DoD facilities with interests similar to yours. You could also look at the proceedings from annual conferences to see who from DOD attended/presented (don't use 2013 as your benchmark, but 2012 would be a good year).

I can imagine both NSWC Indian Head and China Lake hiring synthetic chemists as both make explosives, but so would the medical research laboratories at Fort Detrick, and possibly Edgewood Arsenal.

Good hunting!

Perhaps NAVAIR China Lake or NSWC Indian Head?

I am currently looking to apply to this years SMART Scholarship; however, I am having a difficult time finding DoD facilities that need synthetic chemists. I am interested in either materials or biological/pharmacology based work. I was wondering if anyone had advice on potential labs and, if possible, their experience in these facilities.

Thanks in advance.
