Updating major after application and interview phase

by bootsnotheels » Thu Mar 19, 2026 7:57 pm

I originally applied under Biological Sciences, but I'm in the process of officially switching my major to a Neuroscience. I did an interview with a facility and after looking at their profile again I saw that Cognitive, Neural, and Behavioral Sciences is actually one of their top-sought STEM disciplines. My decision of wanting to switch is driven entirely by my own growing hatred for orgo and not because of what major they're looking for, but it just so happens to be a great alignment with their needs. Since my interview has already taken place, what is the proper thing to do at this stage in the cycle? Should I wait for a decision or should I make a comment now? Also, should I reach out to the facility directly or should I handle it through SMART?
