Nope

I'm guessing the rejection emails will not be sent out for at least another 2 weeks. They have to allow for the awardees to accept or reject their offers and then a secondary round of awards will be sent out.

This is the most ambiguous rejection letter. Has anyone ever heard of someone that received an award after getting a "rejection" email?

I just got mine. On the bright side, I won't be bound by the service agreement and am now free to apply to whichever other jobs I want! Best wishes to all of you; the fact that you were even nominated as semifinalists in the first place shows that you are all extremely bright and capable, and will do well wherever you go.

Same. I was kind of surprised too because I spoke to someone on the phone and met him at a conference we were both at. He said I was the only person with the specialty they were looking for. :( oh well. At least now I don't have to move out of California!

Was yours a straight up rejection? Mine says that I haven't been given an award yet and that awards are still being given out for the next few weeks.

That's what they all say, gives me a little hope but I feel like it's just a "let them down easy" sort of thing just in case some awardees don't accept their awards.

Any success stories out there for those who were initially rejected and then accepted?

Is there any way to know where we stand in terms of that waiting list ?

A friend of mine was "rejected" last year and ended up getting it later. I believe this is very rare.

I however was rejected last year and was truly rejected. So its hard to tell.

It's basically their way of being able to accept you later or not without you being able to email them and ask.

@employee232 almost 150 scholars were accepted late last year. Which is really weird. generally it's whoever was given an acceptance today then turns it down and they fill in those few spaces.
