Reporting that semifinalist position on a resume

Just wondering what people's thoughts were on noting on a resume that I was a semifinalist in this year's award cycle even though I did not receive an offer. Is that acceptable or even useful?

My opinion is if you have room, I would definitely list it. It is a great achievement and recognition for being in the top crop of students from across the country. Just because you weren't a finalist doesn't water down or negate the achievement of being a semifinalist.

That being said, obviously if you have a lot of other academic achievements that are equal or greater, I don't know that I would bump something off so that I could list it, even if it is more recent.
