Phase 2 Still Not Started...

Postby zmarco » Wed Oct 24, 2018 7:28 pm

I graduated this May, and received my tentative job offer from my location in August. It's now nearly November and I've still heard nothing from the hiring office. Is anyone else still in the same boat as me? SMART has been paying me but I don't know how much longer that will last, and since I have literally no estimate on a start date, I can't really look for a job in the meantime. Anyone else in the same situation?

Have you reached out to the hiring office to find out what the delay is? Could you reach out to your future supervisor and see if there is anything they could do to speed things along, pressure HR a little?

I had a short delay in starting because they were waiting for my transcript showing the degree, but didn't tell me that was why at first. My school doesn't make that available until a few months after graduation, so after pressing my HR department I found out they could take a letter from the school in the mean time, and I could be start the next week. You don't want to be rude, but there is nothing wrong with a little polite pushback.
