Leaving the program as I am finishing school right now. Going to have to payback and made my decision with the payback in mind. But, do you think I can make the case that, since I forego my normal government grants (Ex. Pell grant) that I could argue to get that amount deducted from my total payback debt since I had to give it up to take the scholarship and its government money I gave up to receive government money?

Since you signed the agreement to forego federal grant money, I don't think you could argue for them to deduct it. There will be missed opportunities that come with committing to something. But I do not think it can be argued that SMART is liable for those.
