SMART ID

I'm filling out the new forms for LMI and I have 2 questions.

1) What is our SMART ID? Is that somewhere on our offer paperwork?

2) They say attach a voided check - what if we don't have checks? Also how do you even attach a voided check when I assume we are emailing or uploading the form???

(2) I'm not sure if this is the best method, but I would say you should go to your bank and ask for some checks (assuming you have a checking account), then void the check (write void all accross it) and print out the document then place the check on the document and scan it so that it appears to be attached where it's supposed to be attached.

1) It is printed on the bottom of your updated sponsor letter.

2) Print form. Order checks from bank. Scan form and voided check. Submit PDF.

1) Cool! Thanks!

2)Ordering checks takes a long time (7-10 business days) which will hopefully make it before the due date, but it's not like I can order one check and it seems silly to have a bunch hanging around when I literally have never used a check in the 8 years of having the checking account. My real question though, I didn't attach one with the original paperwork I uploaded for ASEE - should I have??

I also don't have checks.

I asked my bank and they printed a "starter check" for me. I will void that and attach it with the "Direct Deposit Authorization Form".

Interesting! I tried that today - they said because my account isn't new they won't do that and ordered me checks instead. They were free though so really I just have to figure out where to put them for when I need one in the future! I guess this is a negative to big nationwide banks!!!

Yes, my bank is a local credit union. They didn't charge me anything and printed the starter checks right away.

you only attach a void check if youre having the money direct deposited into your checking. if you are doing it to savings, then you don't need to

I'm putting it into checking/just opened a savings account when I got checks. So I would have had this same issue with ASEE. Turns out I just ignored it and didn't attach a voided check.

It should have been emailed to you!
