Study Abroad

Does anyone know what the rules are about studying abroad?
If it's the same university, if my university has a branch in an another country, is it allowed to study there?

I don't really want to ask SMART because I feel like, in my experience, no one has any idea what is going on in that office and if I ask they'll simply say no because it's easier to.

As long as tuition is still paid to your home institution and your graduation date is not delayed, it is okay. I studied abroad for a year. You have to fill out an amendment request and get your SF to approve of it, which mine was more than happy to do. In my experience, if you think your SF will support your decision (or if you can convince them to), SMART will too.
