SF-87

Post by PhysGuy »

Has anyone gotten theirs yet?

I looked into it and I guess we need to go to a police station to be finger printed. Is this correct? I also read there might be a fee. How much are we talking?

Did any previous semi-finalists experience any difficulty with the SF-87? Anything we should look out for?

I haven't gotten mine yet. They said they would arrive by the 26th, so there are still a few days.

It did sound like you had to go to a police station or courthouse to get your fingerprints. If there is a fee, I can't imagine it would be too much - they referred to it as "minimal". You could probably call your police station to find out if they charge and how much.

I havent received mine, although I imagine that they sent out the cards the same day we got the semifinalist emails so it may not be until wednesday or thursday before we receive them. The sheriff's office where I'm from says that it costs $12.00 which seems pretty light. The bigger problem will be making time between 8 and 5 to bike down and get it done. Also, the local PD will not fingerprint, you have to go through the sheriff's office here. I'm curious if this is common practice so if you get some free time let me know where you went to get fingerprinted.

I was able to get my done through public safety at school. Not sure if this is something that most schools do, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I took your advice and looked into my school's security department and they do have a fingerprinting service. So just make sure, it doesn't HAVE to be done by the police department? Just want to make sure of the limitations of who can do it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I recieved my two SF-87's in the mail yesterday. A letter which came with the cards confirmed what the email said about the new due date for the fingerprint cards being March 12th.

My local Police Department near Daytona Beach charged me $5 for each fingerprint form, or $10 total.

should the 87 be sent to the Monterey office or the Washington D.C. office?

blackbishop,

The letter included with the SF-87 states explicitly where to send the forms. It's the Monterey office.
