SAT scores, and recommendation letter from advisor

Post by nia »

First, the SAT. I'm a college sophomore. I understand that it's only required of freshman and high schoolers, and that my fit for the program and actual accomplishments are much more important. However, I did very well and it could only help my application. Can I submit them?

Secondly, would it be a good idea to have my likely academic advisor submit a recommendation? I have at least three other possibilities for good letters (research faculty I worked with, professor of a class I excelled at), but none of them are in my major. I've only taken a few professors in the subject, and my advisor is the only one that it would make sense for me to get a rec from. Is there any problem with my advisor writing a rec? To make things a bit more complicated, I haven't put in the paperwork to move to him from my general ed advisor yet.
