Computer Science Sponsoring Facilities

Post by chandimi »

I am a first year undergraduate concentrating in Computer Science; I have not picked a particular specialization in CS yet.

Going through this forum, I've found a few stories of Computer Scientists apart of the SMART program essentially becoming IT troubleshooters or doing basic data-entry at their Sponsoring Facilities.

Would anyone be willing to tell me a few (or one) of the SFs that do the most cutting-edge research in CS? If not, possibly identify a SF that currently does not utilize CS personnel to their full capabilities?

I want to try to ensure that my three years at the DoD will be spent doing something useful by at least selecting good SFs for my preferences. Thanks!

I graduated with a computer science undergrad degree. My sponsoring facility was NSWC Carderock Division in Maryland. We create our own software and don't do IT work.
