Tried to find details in the FAQ on the main site, but didn't see anything:

Will SMART fund you for half a year? I graduate in early Spring next year.

Yes, I believe they might, since they specifically state that the internship requirement is only for students who require more than one year of funding. (So less than one year could be possible. I recommend emailing LMI for correct information.) Have you already been awarded the scholarship? If not, the earliest you can get funding is beginning Fall 2019, since the awards are announced in Spring 2019.

No, they will not. They changed the requirements for this upcoming year so that you will be required to participate in at least one Summer Internship (minimum of 1.5 year commitment).

From their FAQ Page:

What is the duration of the SMART award?
[...] SMART scholarships range from a minimum of 1.5 years to a maximum of 5 years per award, depending on degree.
