Chances of getting the award without an interview?

From previous years does anyone know how many people had received an award without getting an interview? Was it considered normal or was it considered uncommon? I know that getting an interview doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it is a bit worrisome to hear nothing at all. I felt like I had a strong application and that I would get at least 1 interview or facility that's interested.

Honestly, it is hard to say the number of current SMART scholars who were interviewed or not (unless SMART did some sort of survey). But, there were people chosen last year who did not get interviewed. All I can say, is don't count yourself out until you hear officially from SMART when awards are announced.

It's common. But I would be wary of accepting a position when they didn't bother with an interview. It's less likely to be a good fit and they may just be looking for warm bodies. I definitely recommend getting a site visit or at least a phone conversation about the job details with them before accepting, because once you accept there's no going back.

thanks for the post phase 2 participant. At this point I have given up on getting an interview. It just seems strange that a job would not interview before recommending for a position. I guess it is now just up to fate. Will definitely try and arrange a visit with the facility if somehow I do end up getting accepted. Masters in Computer Engineering here.

CS undergrad here. It looks like not many CS/CE/etc people aren't getting interviews from the looks of the other thread despite our category being one of the largest categories being recruited from. Maybe interviews with CS/CE people aren't too common? It could also be due to the distribution of the people that come to this forum
