It seems that there are a lot of different experiences for people, and it comes down to the SF. You may be interviewed, you may not. The interview might be very formal, or it might not be. In my experience, I had a panel interview over the phone. They asked a lot about my background, and typical interview questions like "What is a weakness you have, and how do you work on improvement." Also, they asked some questions that were pertinent to the SF itself.
I would prepare as you would any other interview. Make sure you look over your application/CV, research the facility etc.
