I went through the security clearance process early in the year, but I wasn’t informed I received it until I confirmed with my SF months after I was approved. Maybe you can ask them to check up on it? Also, I hadn’t received the internship form either, so I emailed smart and they sent it to me. I guess just keep emailing until someone gets back to you!

You aren't given a security clearance (that comes later) to visit the base. You just fill out the forms to be put on a visitor list. Your security clearance is what will allow you to actually perform the work for the internship (and the paperwork for that will come later and the process is long....very long. I know because I've gotten a clearance before.) Being put on the visitor list is mostly painless and really only takes a phone call to the visitor center by your point of contact. I know at least in the AF you will check into the visitor center your first day to get a visitor pass that will allow you onto base (with valid photo ID so don't forget that). I can't imagine it's much different for the other branches.

Security clearance?

I haven't received my Internship request form back yet or heard about getting access to my base yet although I have sent several emails. My mentor said I "should be set to go" but was not definite about it. Am I supposed to officially hear back about receiving my security clearance and gaining access to the base or is that just going to happen?
