I think tomorrow COULD be the day but I will try not to pay too much attention until later in the week. The Thurs/Fri pattern seems to be pretty well established but who knows what to expect with everything that's been happening this year.
As for the Temp Closed thing, I do think it means something. My impression is that they're adding people to the awards database in waves and that they've known the results for a long time now. The first wave was for those who were going to be picked whether or not the increased funding was secured (I was not part of that wave). The second wave was for those who were picked to be SMART scholars ONLY if the funding bill passed. I was a part of the second wave and also saw that my school was awarded a SMART scholar before that part of the site was taken down.
The part of me that expects to find out this week thinks everyone was picked and ranked long ago based on funding availability. Another part of me thinks they're still adding people to the portal and that we won't be finding out this week. I think the second option is a little less likely given that I've seen no posts about people's portal status changing since that second wave on (I think) Thursday night. One of the reasons I think they're still adding people is because someone posted that there were less than 200 scholars added to the school directory for this year (I expect this year to have over 300 selections). To counter that, I've heard the theory that whoever migrated all the people to the awards database for the second wave also accidentally added them to the school directory (a mistake not made during the first wave) which might explain what we've been seeing. However, in that case it seems like a pretty large number of extra people chosen; larger than what the funding increase would permit.
This is all just a ridiculous amount of speculation as I try to predict what's going to happen this week instead of studying for finals. Please take everything I said with no more than a grain of salt. Two at the most.
